We have several different period teleprinters, telex terminals & teletypes from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Telex machines were for sending text messages over dedicated telephone type lines around the world. They were still used in former British colonies until not long ago. Teletypes were used through the 1960s & 1970s & are more sophisticated than telex as they have a larger character set (full ASCII) and were commonly used for communicating with mainframe computers and factory machine tools. Some of these are practical & highly visual when operating and printing text onto roll fed paper. They can also punch and read perforated paper tape (ticker tape).
