These would have been used for teaching the basics of electronics in schools or colleges during the 1960s using the newly emerging transistors of the time. The panel nearest the camera in the first pic would be a fairly naff but tunable electronic organ like the Rolf Harris (sorry) stylophone. Other circuits include amplifiers, oscillators and basic logic circuits for making the very beginnings of a computer. Many of the components can be moved around & plugged into different positions of the circuit without soldering. The separate boards would have needed to be joined together with additional wires which we can supply
