Floating emergency position indicating radio beacons

Essential marine rescue equipment for lifeboats, oil rigs etc. Dropping one of these in the sea will automatically activate it so that it transmits a positional radio signal on a reserved emergency frequency. Hopefully then a helicopter will arrive before you die of hypothermia or become haute cuisine for sharks. If Tom Hanks had had one of these on Castaway then the film would have been a lot shorter & he wouldn't have ended up talking to a punctured football.
