Practical Motorola 5000X car/mobile brick phone

This is a double brick sized mobile phone that, as well as being carried about,  could also be plugged into a car. We've modified this by adding a mains power supply to make the display & keypad work. Pressing buttons shows the numbers on the display. Like any mobile phone from this period, the original Nickel Cadmium batteries are completely knackered. No pocket would accomodate a phone as large as this so it was designed to be carried by gripping the cradle rest. There are also loops for attaching a simple shoulder strap.
