These military radios were known as Sputnik specials as they were capable of receiving the regular beep, beep, beep 20MHz radio transmissions from the first ever satellite to be launched into earth orbit in 1957 by the Soviet Union. This dramatic event was so far ahead of the American space program that US citizens were left reeling & scared. That radio amateurs were able to confirm the transmissions really were coming from space using surplus military radios like these, must have only compounded their fear. These have a great cold war appearance. We hope to populate the empty holes with appropriate components. Please note that these are 21" wide panels & so won't fit into any of our regular 19" racking systems. We may be able to cut them down to size or you could build your own MDF cabinets for mounting them into. They have ugly naked sides & back.
