Punched paper tape was used as a digital storage medium way back when & also for creating a machine readable copy of everything sent to a teleprinter or telex machine. Each line of 8 holes across the paper tape width represents one printable ASCII character. Unused spools like this were mounted onto paper tape punches or telex machines which then fed the tape out with punched holes. The outer grime is easily dealt with by unspooling just one turn of tape revealing clean tape underneath. This is the full range of colours we have. This tape is for hire only & must not be unspooled, damaged, snapped, bruised or crumpled. Good dressing for telex rooms, mainframe computer rooms or the dens of very early personal computer users such as Bill Gates & Paul Allen.
