Original IBM PC period monitor

Original IBM PC period monitor

These were introduced by IBM in 1981 to go with their PC system of the same date. Typically they would sit on the PC base unit to bring the monitor to the correct viewing height. Very distinctive boxy retro shape with a sloping front. We have good practical runs of these in both monochrome green screen (IBM 5151) & colour (IBM 5153) to go with the matching PC base units we also stock. See under Computers category. The green screen monitors can generally be easily filmed without roll bar or flickering issues due to them using a long persistance phosphor on the screens. The colour screens are likely to show roll bars unless special genlock measures are taken when filming.

They have a weird proprietry video interface that can't accept video or stills image signals except from the original IBM PC that this would normally sit on. It would be very hard to display anything other than text or lo res graphics on them.
