This is an entirely mechanical gramophone with a clockwork motor that is wound up by inserting & turning the supplied crank handle. No electricity involved at all. It's easily portable with a carrying handle so would have been designed for taking on picnics etc. It is only for playing 78RPM records of either 10" or 12" size made from shellac. Modern vinyl records will be ruined if they're played on this. The clockwork motor is not fully functional & runs down quicker than the playing time of a record but it will give about 30 seconds of filming time.
