Practical 1990s time lapse VHS VCR/Video Cassette Recorder for CCTV security rooms etc

VHS time lapse recorders like this were developed so that the tapes used for recording from CCTV cameras only needed to be changed daily rather than every 3 hours or so. They did this by not recording smooth video but instead frames were recorded only every second or so. Footage played back was therefore very jerky. If a burglar sprinted VERY fast across the frame, they may not have been recorded.
