World War 2 civilian receiver

This very basic & easy to manufacture radio was developed during WW2 as it was realised that it was vital for civilians to be kept informed of news events, rationing etc. It was also intended as a moral booster so there was plenty of light entertainment broadcast during the war. There were shortages of electronic components & also radio service technicians so having one standard design produced by multiple manufacturers greatly alleviated both of these demands.
