Genuine teleprinter from early last century used as part of the telex network. Before email was invented this was how text messages were sent around the world. Messages could be typed on the keyboard, received messages would be printed out on the roll paper at the rear. The machine could also make machine readable paper tapes of messages as a binary pattern of holes punched onto the narrow paper tape visible at the front left of the machine. Not presently practical but watch this space.
