Practical Lear Siegler ADM 5 VDU mainframe computer terminal

Practical Lear Siegler ADM 5 VDU mainframe computer terminal

This very culty piece of IT history is not a computer in itself but would communicate (in text mode only) with a remote mainframe computer - the sort of things that filled entire rooms. Lovely smooth curving shape together with their place in computing history makes these highly collectable. The introduction of "glass Teletypes" like this which only became possible with the development of increasingly cheap semiconductor memory chips rapidly brought about the demise of noisy, slow electromechanical printing terminals like the Teletype ASR33. This is still working but because it has no intelligence, you have to steer the cursor around the screen & type your own text. Absolutely no graphics ability back then.
